Project Tasks & Achievements
Task 1: Community Capacity Building
We developed and implemented a detailed project plan to:
- Collaborate with tribal and urban Indian organizations and Local Health Jurisdictions
(LHJs). - Establish culturally appropriate and accessible vaccination sites.
- Expand the community-based workforce for outreach and education.
- Modernize IT infrastructure for public health responsiveness.
- Support transitional water access points in underserved areas.
- Facilitate ongoing stakeholder coordination to address pandemic-related health
disparities.
Task 2: Culturally Relevant Education & Outreach
We led the development and evaluation of community-centered communications strategies to:
- Promote accurate vaccine information and access.
- Provide linguistically and culturally appropriate outreach.
- Coordinate directly with DOH to ensure alignment with statewide public health efforts.
Task 3: Information Accuracy and Alignment
We led the development and evaluation of community-centered communications strategies to:
- All outreach materials and communications were vetted for alignment with the
Washington DOH and VCDC public health messaging guidelines. - Draft materials were submitted for approval prior to dissemination, ensuring scientific
accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
Task 4: Planning and Evaluation
We led the development and evaluation of community-centered communications strategies to:
- Participated in monthly contract meetings with DOH.
- Submitted comprehensive progress reports by the 15th of each month.
- Documented successes, challenges, and next steps in partnership with DOH, identifying
technical assistance needs as necessary.
Impact
This project strengthened our ability to respond to public health emergencies while building sustainable relationships and infrastructure that support AI/AN health equity. We remain committed to collaborative leadership, responsive action, and culturally grounded service delivery.
